“Embrace the Wabi Sabi Way.”

Background

Angie has been a Bulimba local for just over 10 years. During a year of travelling in a little van and exploring remote locations in the outback and far north Queensland, Angie nurtured a deeper connection with her two sons while home-schooling them on the road. Having the time, space, and inspiration of the countryside, education, and exploration took on a whole new meaning. This experience, along with her passion for art, love for creating and her nurturing spirit, has helped Angie realise her gift and purpose in guiding others on their journey towards self-discovery through creative expression.

Experience

Angie brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in well-being therapies, having previously worked with day spa products that combined colour, temperature, texture, and aroma that helped shape Angie’s love of creating holistic experiences to nourish the body, mind, and soul. You’ll get the chance to work with Angie when she hosts an evening paint and sip social experience or a special kids painting birthday party on weekends.

Art Philosophy

Angie has a deep appreciation for all things Japanese, which began when she received her first karate gi. Her father, a martial arts instructor, introduced her to many concepts of the Japanese way of life. Angie later travelled to Japan as an exchange student and immersed herself in the culture, studying various martial arts, as well as Shodoo, Ikebana, Origami, Sumi-e, and Kintsugi. Embracing the Ikigai concepts, Angie's purpose is to share her love, skills, and experiences with others to enhance their enjoyment of life. When she encountered the Japanese philosophy of the Wabi Sabi Way, she realised its value in integrating it into creative pursuits. By incorporating these principles and ancient yet profound art forms, Angie is guided by a process that allows others to relate to and embrace their evolution through creative engagement in meaningful ways.

Artist Statement

Angie finds her greatest happiness in nature. She believes the world is filled with miracles and can often be seen capturing the intricate details of something captivating in watercolour or through her camera lens. She often takes photos for inspiration in her artwork and collects items that others might consider "rubbish" to up-cycle them in line with the principles of Kintsugi. A lover of light, she takes delight in witnessing the beauty of sunrises, sunsets, and anything that sparkles and dazzles.

Angie's artistic philosophy combines her love for art, nature, and Japanese culture to create transformative experiences for individuals seeking growth, healing, and a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. She believes that through art, one can discover and embrace their inner creativity and find joy and fulfillment in the process of self-expression. Through her unique approach and passion for sharing her knowledge, Angie aspires to be a catalyst for positive change, empowering others to find their own artistic and spiritual paths, just as she has on her own journey.
